๐ฉโ๐ป My Role
As VP of Design, I led the redesign of Samco's brand website with a focus on trust, usability, and conversion optimization.
Leadership: Directed a cross-functional design team of 12, including UX designers, visual designers, and researchers.
Strategy: Aligned design vision with business goals, working closely with the CEO, product team, and stakeholders.
Execution Oversight: Guided the end-to-end process from research to wireframes, visual design, and handoff to development.
Design Evangelism: Established a unified design system that became a foundation for Samco's digital identity.
โ Problems Identified
Samco's existing website had grown outdated and inconsistent, creating several critical issues:
Fragmented User Experience: Disconnected design across pages created confusion.
Weak Brand Presence: The site lacked a strong identity to reflect Samco's bold fintech positioning.
Low Conversion Funnel: Many visitors dropped off before account opening due to unclear navigation and overwhelming information.
Poor Mobile Optimization: With 70% of traffic from mobile, performance and usability issues impacted engagement.
๐ฏ Project Goals
We established clear objectives for the website redesign:
Reinforce Trust: Create a professional, modern, and consistent brand identity.
Enhance Usability: Simplify flows for account opening, pricing transparency, and product discovery.
Mobile-First Design: Optimize performance and usability across all devices.
Boost Conversion: Build clear CTAs, persuasive messaging, and intuitive journeys.
Design System: Establish scalable guidelines for consistency across digital properties.
๐ฅ Target Users
We identified three primary user groups:
First-Time Investors (Age 22โ30)
Tech-savvy but lack deep financial knowledge.
Goal: Learn, trust the platform, and start small.
Active Traders (Age 25โ40)
Regular traders looking for fast, reliable, transparent platforms.
Goal: Advanced tools, low costs, seamless mobile access.
Long-Term Investors (Age 35โ50)
Prioritize research, portfolio diversification, and trust.
Goal: Access insights, build wealth gradually.
๐ ๏ธ Design Process
We followed a 4D Design Process (Discover โ Define โ Design โ Deliver):
1. Discover
Conducted stakeholder interviews.
Analyzed competitor websites (Zerodha, Upstox, Groww).
Ran user surveys with 100+ participants.
Mapped customer journeys from awareness to account activation.
2. Define
Identified high-friction flows (account opening, product discovery).
Prioritized features based on impact vs. effort matrix.
Defined information architecture with a clear navigation hierarchy.
3. Design
Created wireframes for homepage, pricing page, account flow, and research hub.
Developed a design system: typography, color palette, icons, and UI components.
Applied accessibility guidelines for inclusive design.
Iterated through user testing with 15 participants.
4. Deliver
Finalized high-fidelity responsive prototypes.
Conducted developer handoff via Figma with annotations.
Partnered with QA to ensure pixel-perfect execution.
๐จ Final Designs
Key highlights of the redesigned Samco website:
Homepage: Clean hero banner with bold value proposition, strong CTAs, and trust indicators.
Pricing Page: Transparent breakdown with comparison charts.
Account Opening Flow: Reduced steps, mobile-friendly forms, status tracker.
Research Hub: Content-driven section for insights, reports, and blogs.
Consistent Brand Identity: Unified visuals across all touchpoints.
โก Challenges Faced
Key challenges we faced during the redesign:
Balancing Innovation vs. Simplicity: Users wanted advanced tools but were easily overwhelmed.
Aligning Stakeholders: Different teams had competing priorities (marketing vs. compliance vs. product).
Mobile Performance: Optimizing animations and interactions without compromising load speed.
Tight Timeline: Delivered the redesign in just 14 weeks.
